Thanks to another group of amazing wedding professionals, I hosted a photography retreat in Jackson Hole last September. A huge thanks to our florist Historia Florals and makeup artist Kellie Stolworthy for making this retreat such a success!

Amazon Wedding Dress

Alexa and Jake modeled for our retreat! I found her on a Facebook garage sale page and asked if she would like to have photos done in Jackson in her wedding dress. She was super excited about it and we made plans for her to come over for the week with her husband. When she went to go get her dress, she was in for a surprise. Her mom had gotten her wedding dress preserved! So just a few days before the retreat, I was scouring Amazon for other ideas. I knew we needed something somewhat casual for this elopement shoot and this dress was perfect! This dress just may be the best $30 Amazon purchase I’ve ever made.

Grand Teton National Park Elopement

Two weekends before our retreat, my associate photographer and I went over the Jackson for a double elopement weekend. I knew we had the retreat coming up so we spent our ‘free time’ that weekend exploring the park. Grand Teton National Park is currently #1 on my list of favorite parks. I wanted to find some new locations and did we ever! One of my new favorite locations is Leigh Lake area. It’s a beautiful lake at the base of the Tetons, and has a sandy beach. It’s such a fun contrast to the rest of the park. The water is ice cold, but so stunning. Leigh Lake has a sideways view of the mountains.

Another location I found is Taggart Lake Trailhead. It’s got a great “head on” view of the the Teton mountain range with grasses and trees in the foreground.  You can also see more of these locations in this blog post about Yesenya & Danny’s styled shoot. I can’t wait to go back this summer and do some more hiking in the area!
