I love all things wedding! But, when a couple elopes, there is something extra special about that. In 2016, I photographed my first elopement and have been hooked since! I capture the excitement of a wedding day with the intimacy and relaxation of a bridal session. Elopements are thrilling. They are still exciting and can be high-energy. They are adventurous! Many of my couples travel across the country to elope in a place well known for it’s outdoor recreation activities. Brides choosing to elope don’t mind a little dirt, running hand in hand with their lover, and maybe even hiking a mile for the perfect shot! Elopements are the height of romance. Two people out in nature vowing to love and cherish each other for all their days. And eloping couples love to snuggle, kiss, and gaze longingly at each other. If that’s not romance, I don’t know what is!

You Mean they hire an elopement photographer?

I love the reaction I get when I tell people my favorite thing to photograph is elopements.  Most look at me funny. My answer is usually followed up by another question from them. “Wait”, they say, “Aren’t elopements like done all secretly and quickly?” or “Why are they hiring a photographer?”, or the “They are planning 6 months ahead?”. And the answer to all of these are YES!

Eloping has become very popular among couples who just simply want an intimate wedding affair! Modernly, it has nothing to do with parental consent. It’s not even usually a secret! Many of my couples have told their closest family and friends that they are getting married. An elopement is simply two individuals who want an intimate wedding without tons of guests, expense, and fanfare. You can read about more reasons to elope here. Couples choosing to elope still desire to have precious photographs that document their wedding day that allows them to relive it over and over again.

Serving Brides

As an elopement photographer, I serve in many capacities. There are pretty typical things photographers do – fluffing hair, making sure the dress isn’t dragging on the ground too much, posing, taking photos (duh!), hanging out with the wedding party, and getting you to pull out your craziest dance moves. When photographing an elopement, I also often serve as the zipper woman and pin on boutonnieres. I help set up live streaming of their ceremony to family, and sign as a witness to their wedding! I’m one on a very short list of vendors trusted with making their day perfect. I’m also the vendor that is with them the longest. It’s my honor to serve my couples!
