I get asked by clients a lot where my favorite spot for photos in Jackson Hole is located. While this can be a tough question to answer because Grand Teton National Park is so scenic, I have to say it is Schwabacher Landing. Schwabacher Landing is my number one requested location, which makes it a favorite among my clients also. Here are a few reasons I love this dynamic location for elopements, bridals, couples, families, and portraits.
This spot has one of my absolute favorite views of the Tetons. Not only is a straight on shot of the peaks, it has a beautiful river running through. The river reflects the mountain range clearly. Schwabacher Landing works for any time of day, although evening light is my favorite.
One of the things I love about Schwabacher Landing is that there are wide open spots with an amazing view of the Tetons, and then you walk 20 feet and there are tons of trees! I often walk with my clients about 1/4 mile total during our session to photograph them in multiple places along the trail. This kind of variety allows me to photograph couples in multiple spots quickly and offers them tons of photos to choose from. This place is especially beautiful in the fall with the golden colors turning with the season, and the evergreen trees lending contrast. You will not believe that all of these photos are within a short walk of each other!
I don’t think there is a spot along the trail I haven’t photographed a couple. Each time I visit, I find something new I love about it. There are two large parking areas, and some additional pull off areas. Each area has it’s own unique pluses, but since they are so close you can easily hit the different areas.
Schwabacher Landing is close to Jackson Hole and is located just off Highway 191, past Moose. (Other Highway names include 26 and 89 also). It’s supported in Google Maps also which is helpful in the park!
One of the things I love about this spot is that it is on the edge of the park, so there is not an entrance fee required. This is really ideal for my clients who are just coming over for their session and not spending a lot of time exploring the park. It does still require a paid permit for wedding ceremonies.
And sometimes you’ll even see a moose or two running around!
