The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Like any good love story, this one also starts off with a dress, a good pair of shoes, and a handsome couple. Well, that dress was a steal of a deal. That pair of good shoes was a pair of boots, and the handsome couple, was indeed, beautiful. This snowy stylized winter shoot was the stuff of dreams. We photographed at LaBelle Lake’s Ice Palace with a dress thrifted from The Dress Shop Rigby, and the blue and white bouquet arranged by Atkin Arrangements. I love being an elopement photographer, so I am so excited to share all the details of this styled winter elopement with you!
This dress was purchased from The Dress Shop in Rigby. They sell brand new dresses, and dresses that are donated. Every few months, The Dress Shop in Rigby holds an amazing dress sale. Most of these dresses are more dated but sometimes you get really lucky! I met up with two fellow photographers and we started sorting through the racks and racks of wedding dresses that were on sale. These dresses were each only $10! You never know what you’ll find at a thrift store, but we scored 6 dresses between the three of us.
When I first saw this dress, I knew I had to buy it. It was basically calling my name, “Janelle, buy me please!!”. I grabbed it quickly off the rack and put it in the shopping cart. Together, Celine and Lizzy and I piled on dress after dress into the cart. After we had picked out our favorites, we hung them all back up, sorted through them and chose our favorites. It’s always fun to see the different styles people tend to gravitate towards and the ways we envision how to use these dresses. Well, back to this stunning dress – it’s a brand name Wtoo by Watters dress! A similar dress would probably be over $500!
Hollin and Daniel were absolutely incredible to photograph. They have been married for 7 years and it shows in how comfortable they are with one another! Hollin is also a budding photographer so sometimes before I could even give a prompt or directive, she would be telling Daniel what to do. I loved it! Great minds think alike. Daniel just joined a chiropractic practice in Rexburg, Idaho which precipitated a move from Washington state back in September. I met them at the photoshoot location as they were models that Celine had found. During the elopement stylized shoot, I found out that we go to the same gym! Then, after the photoshoot, Hollin noticed we had a friend in common. While they were living in Washington, they became friends with a family I grew up with! I love making these connections and look forward to growing them beyond just this styled elopement session.
I love working with the crew at LaBelle Lake Ice Palace! They are so easy going and made this entire planning process so easy. LaBelle Lake is a gorgeous wedding venue with acres of land and a beautiful cabin close to the Snake River. In the summer they boast amazing little ponds on the property. In the winter, they build this huge ice structure and are always upping their game on the designs. See these engagement photos and stylized bridal photos from past shoots out at LaBelle Lake in Rigby, Idaho. If you are planning a wedding in Southeast Idaho, this venue is one you’ll want to look into to host your wedding celebration!
