Idaho Falls Engagements at Tautphaus Park

Stephanie and Matt’s Idaho Falls engagements were so fun! We did the first half of their photos at Tautphaus Park, close to the downtown section of Idaho Falls. This is a beautiful little spot because it has plenty of shade and lots of tree coverage. It’s also pretty almost every time of the year, but especially now as the trees begin to turn!

Special Tokens Of Love

At this time instead of doing an engagement ring, they each bought one another a special little token of their love. Several months ago they made nicknames for each other in the languages that they spoke. Stephanie lived in Austria for a year and learned quite a bit of German. To call your loved one a “barchen” is to call them “little bear”. So, she bought Matt a tie clip with a bear on it! Matt learned some French in classes, and there is a cute little saying in French, “mon petite chou”, or “my little cabbage”. And so, Matt bought a necklace for Stephanie that has a little cabbage on it! I have called my son and my husband this for years as I also took some French language classes in high school and college. Is this where cabbage patch dolls came from?! 

Chaz the Horse and Clockwork Farms

Stephanie has been around horses and been riding for nearly all of her life. She has had her beautiful horse, Chaz, since he was four. Now he is 21! She really wanted to include Chaz in her photos. Because I’ve done engagement shoots with horses before, it was one of the things that drew her to my photography. I’m so glad that we included him! We went out to Clockwork Farms in Idaho Falls. This is where he is boarded, and he’s a little bit nervous traveling too much. We opted to stay on site so that he would be more comfortable. He definitely tried to steal the show a few times! Chaz was such a fun addition to these Idaho Falls engagements, and I’m so glad his owners included him!
