One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to hike! Avalanche Lake was one of my favorite hikes of 2019. Because we were traveling to Glacier National Park in late August, I knew hiking would be on the top of my list. I have friends who live a few hours from the park and drove up to meet us. Together, our families went hiking and enjoyed some family time together. Hiking 4 miles with 4 kids is no easy feat, but it was such an adventure!
As soon as we got to the lake, there was a black bear hanging out across the stream. He ended up coming across and scoping some things out before leaving again. He took his sweet time and was not deterred by the 40+ people yelling at him! That was my first time seeing a bear while hiking and I was so glad we were prepared with multiple cans of bear spray in case we needed them. I also carry bear spray in the Tetons with me, even to sessions!
This trip to Glacier National Park happened to coincide closely with our friends’ tenth anniversary. So we thought, why the heck not do some fun photos with them while we were together?! These photos are some of the only professional photos they have together, and with their three kiddos. I’m so glad we could make it happy while we were in Montana! Avalanche Lake was absolutely stunning and made for an incredible backdrop for these two and their romance!
