Today I’m sharing a beautiful proposal that happened at Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park. I had so much fun working with Zach planning the proposal at Jenny Lake. Their trip was planned for early May, so I knew that snow could still be a factor in the higher elevation, as well as in shady area. Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park get so much snow every single year, that it takes well into the spring for it all to melt!

When I originally talked to Zach about his plans we threw out a lot of different ideas. But, we ultimately settled on a picnic setup at Jenny lake. He ordered a box from Jackson Hole Charcuterie, which I picked up ahead of time so that it could all be a surprise. I took a picnic blanket, a couple pillows, and the charcuterie box to set up on the shoreline of Jenny Lake. There was still snow on the beach! But luckily, there were some good open spaces for us to use and the day was absolutely beautiful!

Documenting the Moment

Proposals can be so tricky because we have to look like tourists but still capture the moment. I had my assistant, up top playing lookout for me and grabbing a second angle of the proposal. I was down on the shoreline ready for the proposal. Zach led his girlfriend, Sarah, down to the picnic blanket and they set their things down. Then he had her pose for an “Instagram photo”. While she was turned away from him with her arms stretched out, he got down on one knee! Then when she turned around, he popped the question! Of course she said “Yes!”, and the rest is history! This Jenny Lake proposal was so much fun, and it didn’t end there. Immediately following their proposal, we photographed their engagements at Jenny Lake.
