The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Being a Jackson Hole photographer, I have been apart of lots of important events for couples. Whether it’s elopements, weddings, proposals, or even anniversary pictures, it’s always so special. Planning these special events can be stressful, and difficult if you’re not familiar with your location. But, planning a destination proposal just got that much easier since you found me! I help couples (mostly the person proposing), plan these incredible events, to make sure we get the perfect lighting, pictures, and happily ever after. However, if you’re looking for a few tips to plan the perfect destination proposal, you’ve come to the write spot!
Since we’re talking about destination proposals, we should probably nail down the destination portion! Take a few minutes to think about places that are meaningful in your relationship, maybe where you met, or somewhere you’ve dreamed of traveling to together. If your options are limited, reach out to photographers where you’re considering proposing and see what they suggest! Oftentimes, photographers have ‘secret’ locations that they’ll share to make sure your proposal goes off perfectly.
If you’re looking for somewhere with amazing views, and adventure, consider Jackson Hole, and more specifically Grand Teton National Park for your destination proposal. We’ll talk about what matters most in your relationship and come up with a plan to surprise your person.
Have you ever heard the saying, “it’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen”? Relationships and moments are made up of little things, not just the big things. Just like relationships and moments, your destination proposal is comprised of little things that will make the event that much more special and unique. Consider bringing photos from throughout your relationship, we can hang them on string with clothes pins to showcase the evolution and growth of your relationship. Maybe bring your favorite foods to eat together, whether that’s a favorite dessert or appetizer.
The details of your relationship are what brought you together, the things that make you both special. Showcase those unique elements and details of your story, while you embark on the next chapter of life together. This destination proposal is an incredible moment in your story together, take the time to pinpoint some aspects that you love, and show them off!
If your proposal takes you somewhere that requires a hotel, fill them in! Let them know what you have planned to make it even more special for the two of you. As I mentioned in the locations portion above, reaching out to vendors in the location your proposing at is the perfect way to get an insiders perspective to that spot. So when traveling for your destination proposal, reach out to vendors you’ll be working with. Planning a special dinner to celebrate after they say, “yes”? Call the restaurant ahead of time and let them know what’s going on, and how you’d like to make the evening special. Most spots are eager to help make your moments meaningful, so reach out!
You’re already going to be so nervous having spent so much time planning your destination proposal, don’t drag it out. Propose early in your trip to spend the rest of the time celebrating together, not worrying about whether they’ll say yes or no. Of course, you may not be going away together for your destination proposal, maybe it’s just a day trip, the principle still applies! Propose sooner than later so you can spend time celebrating together, take pictures together, and less time stressing.
You’ve spent so much time planning this incredible destination proposal, you should have someone there to capture the life changing moment! This moment, like a lot of big moments in life will be fleeting. Having a photographer there to capture it for you will be memories you treasure forever. While finding a photographer for your big day make sure to find someone you get along with well. Hop on the phone and get to know them, their business, and how they can help make your day that much better.
When I work with couples, we collaborate on what matters most to you. I help you plan your event, choosing vendors, locations, and so much more. Finding a great photographer will make the planning process that much smoother and your proposal that much more memorable. I’ll be there every step of the way to suggest incredible vendors like Jackson Hole Charcuterie to make your proposal that much more romantic.
Nevertheless, your destination proposal will be perfect because it’s a moment for you and your person. It’s the moment that you decide on forever together. You’ll create more special and unique moments together, and this is one of those moments that should be remembered forever. Ready to plan your destination proposal? Let’s chat about making it happen!
