I have been so lucky to get to work with Stephanie and Matthew. They celebrated their marriage this August in a spiritually moving ceremony at Holy Rosary. They have been some of the sweetest clients I could have ever asked for, and are just such a joy to work with. I photographed their engagement session last year at Tautphaus Park and at the Clockwork Barn. It was so fun to get to include her horse in some of the photos. In fact, her mother even purchased her a beautiful big framed canvas of her and her horse for Christmas last year.
Stephanie and Matthew were married in a Catholic wedding ceremony at Holy Rosary in Idaho Falls. I was very upfront with them about my concerns with shooting in a low-light situation like that without being able to use a flash. And they were very understanding and realized that the constraints of their venue rules were perhaps going to be an issue. However, the Holy Rosary Church is so beautiful inside and has these gorgeous stained glass windows! They let in a lot of natural light in the early afternoon. We got very lucky with a beautiful sunny day and had lots of light streaming through those windows.
Indoor lighting situations are sometimes a little bit intimidating. I photograph mostly outdoor settings, and when I do photograph indoors I use flash. So, my experience photographing indoor settings without being able to use a flash is pretty low. I am so pleased with how well Stephanie and Matthew’s ceremony photos turned out. Their ceremony contained beautiful and moving spiritual pieces, including songs and prayers.
Being a part of Stephanie and Matthew’s wedding day just really made me feel like I was one of their guests. Obviously I was still there to work, but they made arrangements for me to be seated with their family. Matthew created hand calligraphed name cards and I saved mine to go on my desk at home! They were really thoughtful with the different elements of their wedding and reception.
Because of the concerns around Covid-19, they really just had their closest friends and family in attendance and celebrated a low-key reception at the 7N Ranch in Ririe, Idaho. They had a lovely self-serve dinner that the bride and groom had painstakingly prepared ahead of time,. A few toasts were shared, the cake was cut, and the special dances were danced. Before long, it was almost the end of the night.
We snuck away to take some additional couple portraits in the golden hour light. One photo that we really wanted to grab was her elegant veil. And boy did that veil deliver on all of its promises! These veil photos were absolutely stunning and gorgeous and I just still cannot stop drooling over them! They are the first photos from their gallery that I edited and I was completely enthralled by how beautiful the lighting turned out for them that you mean.
I’m so honored that I got to celebrate with Stephanie and Matthew and very thankful to work with such amazing and thoughtful clients!
