The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
I have been a part of so many weddings as a Jackson Hole wedding photographer, and it’s literally the best ever. On your wedding day, you have so much to think about. And it’s a lot of responsibility to have on just one person if you allow it to be just you who takes it all on. There might be a lot of reasons you think your big day is going to go wrong and that might be why you’ve put it on yourself to make sure it doesn’t. But I’m here to offer you some hope, and help alleviate some stress! Here are some ways you can avoid that wedding day stress.
Most likely, you will have a group of people who are with you for the whole day. It might help to ask someone to be your support person. Someone you can just give “the look” and they’ll take care of whatever stressful thing is going on. Or someone who can tell when you’re getting a little hangry and they can help you get out of your funk with a Snickers Bar! Usually this would be the maid of honor or best man. If you are eloping, and don’t have a traditional bridal party, bring a friend along that can be that person for you. You can also talk to someone who has recently been married and see what kinds of things they did to stay calm the day of the wedding.
If you have a wedding planner, lean into their support, you booked them for a reason! Since this is your big wedding day, having a wedding planner who has done this before can be a huge source of support. It may get rid of some of the wedding day stress. They have experience and know how to handle any hiccups that may arise. You can rest assured knowing they have some tricks up their sleeve. You hired them for this purpose, so let them do their thing! Also, consider hiring a wedding planner early on in the process. They’ll have a list of recommendations to help make the planning process that much easier.
While planning your big day, you’ve definitely done your research on everything! Finding the best people to come together to be your dream team, now allow them to be just that. They’ll work together, perform miracles, and keep you out of it! It’s important to put your trust into the vendors. If you are worried about things going wrong with your catering, music, or photography, you have to try to let that fall on those who are being paid to do the work.
This day is all about you and you should be able to enjoy it. You can confirm on the day that everything is good to go. After that, it’s out of your hands and in the hands of the businesses you chose. They’ll know how to make sure to get every detail just right for your wedding day. After all this isn’t their first rodeo, they know how to best help reduce wedding day stress!
There is nothing worse than sloppy transitions, or running behind. People will just sit around waiting and wondering. It might cause you a little stress watching people not really knowing what to do. However, to keep the party moving along, have a timeline of all that you’re going to do on your wedding day. You can have the DJ or a trusted family member be the one directing traffic. Lots of brides put their wedding day schedule in the envelope with the invitation, a banner, or on a program that you give to each guest as they walk in. Then there is no one asking you “so what’s next” or “when are we doing this part so I can take my grumpy kids home?” It’s so much easier when you’re only thinking about the happy moments of being congratulated by those you love.
If you’re still in the process of planning and don’t have a wedding photographer, I can help take some of that wedding day stress. Let me know how I can help!
