If you want to do something unique and out of the box, consider an Ice Skating Rink Proposal! When Sandor contacted me to see if I could photograph his proposal to Krisztina, I knew it was going to be amazing. Because they’d been dating for 8 years, he really wanted something more out of the box. There are a few places in Jackson to go ice skating, but I recommended the rink at Teton Village. Nestled between several hotels, it’s a central little location. It also is fairly well lit, which is a huge factor for photography!
Because of their travel plans, we had a late evening proposal. After a day of travel, he convinced her to go skating before their dinner reservations. They needed to spend some time before it would be ready. But instead of dinner plans, he really had proposal plans! They arrived at the location about the same time we did. We expected to have a lot more people on the ice, but it was nearly empty. That worked great for them as far as privacy in the moment, and not having a ton of other bodies in the background. But it made it impossible for my husband and I to blend in. Luckily, the proposal was still a surprise!
When we planned out his Ice Skating Rink Proposal, I pointed out the general area that would be well lit and have a good vantage point for us. They had just a few days in Jackson Hole, so timing was everything for this proposal. They arrived and skated around the rink several times. He even faked me out a few times haha. When it was finally the right moment, I was lucky enough to record the moment on my phone as well and send them a copy of that video. The look on her face was absolutely priceless!
