The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
A few weeks ago, I posted a poll on my Instagram to see how people had met their future spouses. Because I’m in the wedding industry, I love to ask couples how they met. I feel like it helps them share some of their background as a couple together. Being a Jackson Hole Wedding Photographer means I get to meet people from all over the country. Usually it’s when we’re taking their Jackson Hole Engagements or Wedding Photos. Our couples meet in different ways and fall in love on different timetables. Want to see how all the answers stacked out?
Meeting through mutual friends or online dating were our top two answers. This poll coincides pretty well with what I hear from my couples as well. I love hearing the stories of how their friends set them up, they met casually at a BBQ, or had older/younger siblings who were friends with them. My personal favorite is that one of my couples met at a wedding for mutual friends!
Online dating helps a large portion of our couples connect with one another and fall in love. I have couples brush it off as “unromantic” but I figure that whatever works is a heaven send! Dating is hard, and some circumstances can make it even harder. I’m all for online dating to help you find that fish in the sea that’s right for you.
I had completely forgotten to include work in the poll options, but many people messaged me that this is where they met their future spouse. Church was also pretty closely tied with work for this answer. That one might be a bit skewed due to my local demographics. I met my husband at church, so case in point.
School came in next on the list. This wasn’t surprising to me because a lot of the local population around me meet their spouses while attending the college. However, I do think this number is lower in my Jackson Hole Engagements. We do get the honor to photograph a few events for those high school sweethearts who have been together for years, or college love stories. But the majority of our couples meet in different ways.
I can’t leave out meeting at the Gym or the Bar, or another way! This number is significantly the lowest response, but not non-existent.
