I wasn’t sure when I should share this Snowy Spring Teton Wedding. After one of the wettest snow years on record, spring arrived a little late to the Tetons. Because of this, Julian & Ashley’s May 1st wedding still had snow on the ground in several areas. The day of their wedding, I drove up to Jenny Lake to see if it was an option for wedding portraits. It was high on the couple’s list of locations, but I knew that the snow coverage might make it unusable. Unfortunately, there were still a couple of feet of snow on the ground with lots of areas where people had post-holed through. So we went with our backup plan for couple portraits after the ceremony!

Wedding Tree Ceremony

The wedding planned for their ceremony to take place at Wedding Tree out in Kelly, WY. It’s on the edge of Grand Teton National Park and is part of the national forest. Because of it’s location on the edge of both the park and the forest, it’s a great option for couples who want a little more privacy, without sacrificing the views. They had a first look with each other right before the ceremony. Then, she was walked up the “aisle” by her older brother. They married in a short ceremony officiated by her other brother. It was wonderful to see them incorporate their family in that manner. They had toasts, a cake cutting, and first dance at the Wedding Tree.

Snowy Spring Teton Wedding

After we finished with pictures at the Wedding Tree, the couple and I made our way to Taggart Lake Trailhead. They actually really loved the idea of snow in their wedding photos, and there was an abundance of it next to the mountains. The temperature dipped considerably as we spent our time on the snow, but the photos were magical! I’m so grateful they chose me to be their Jackson Hole Wedding Photographer.
