Bethany & Mike had a spectacular Mormon Row Spring Elopement. The season was in full swing which mean the grass was green and lush, the mountain peaks still had snow on them, and the weather was perfect. May is one of my favorite times of the year for a Jackson Hole Wedding.
Mormon Row has old rustic barns in several locations, but for this couple, they really wanted to focus on the grandeur of the tall peaks. They had their ceremony in the field behind the barns which gave them an unobstructed view of the Teton mountains. Michaela Andrus was their videographer, and it was incredible working with her again! Because their parents were not in attendance, they had pictures of them in small frames they kept with them during the ceremony.
The couple asked if their pastors and friends would be willing to make the trip to Grand Teton for their elopement, and they said yes! The ceremony included many spiritual elements to tie into the wedding couple’s religious beliefs, including partaking in communion. The pastors took turns with various parts of the ceremony which was unique and not something I’ve seen before. Personal wedding vows were read during the outdoor wedding ceremony as well as a ring exchange.
My favorite time of day at Schwabacher’s Landing is the last 30-60 minutes before the sunset. In the summer, this is between 8:30-9:00pm which is pretty late! I’m always so happy when it’s a priority for my wedding couples to have the best lighting possible for their photos though. We can’t control the weather, and clouds, and sun. But we do try to plan strategically so that the favorite location is the one we have the best lighting for!
This means if you are planning a Spring wedding in Jackson Hole, you’ll want to consider taking photos here around 7:45 or 8pm. Just watch out for those pesky bugs that come out once the sun goes down. And if you’re lucky, you might just see some wildlife you’re actually excited about too, like this moose photobomber!
