Teton sunrise photoshoots are hard to beat. With their soft glowing light shining on the mountain peaks, sunrises are an experience in Grand Teton National Park. Whether or not you choose to include a Teton sunrise photoshoot into your vacation plans, you should plan a morning to soak in the stillness.
While some locations are more popular than others for sunrises, you can’t go wrong inside the park. I say this to my couples time and time again when we’re choosing locations for pictures, but it’s the truth! There is a beautiful view every way you look. IN the morning, sometimes low hanging clouds like to hang out, or fog can roll in and stick around. This can make it a bit trickier for some locations than others, so I recommend having a back up plan if that happens.
The night before this photo session, I spent the night solo camping. Being alone in a tent isn’t exactly within my comfort zone, but my family wasn’t able to accompany me. I set up my tent in the dark after another session, got ready for bed and slept with my bear spray right next to me. It was an unevenly evening unless you count my air mattress going mostly flat. “Air mattresses are great for when you want to sleep on the floor, but not right away!” Haha. I got up at 5am the morning of this session and drove to our first location, which was Cathedral Group Turnout.
When I say these two came to play and have fun, it’s not an exaggeration. As a photographer we can totally match the energy you bring. I know some people are more outgoing and like to be silly and feel so comfortable in their skin. If you want playful couple portraits, then you’ve got to come prepared! This was definitely the case for Ali and Adam and I was there for it! I never know what people are going to bring for their outfit choices, but I was absolutely in love with theirs. I loved the Wild West touches to her first outfit. Their second outfit at Jenny Lake was more formal and fit the scene perfectly. They were also so so brave getting in the water this early in the morning because I assure you it was frigid!
