Courtney and Ben were one of my whirlwind September weddings in 2022 with their Fall Wedding in Jackson Hole. In my busiest month ever, I photographed 12 weddings and elopements. I learned that that was kind of a lot of work for me to do in a month, so I decided not that take on that many weddings for 2023. However, I also wouldn’t change a single thing about getting to work with so many amazing couples. I loved seeing how similar and different each wedding turned out. 

Weirdly, we had some wildfire smoke lingering even in mid-September. Because of this, some areas in the park experienced more haze, making the mountains show up a bit less. However, it also softened the lighting in the afternoon which is always a plus for me!

Fall Wedding in Jackson Hole

The couple opted to have getting ready photos taken at Trail Creek Ranch in Wilson, WY. This was my first time at the ranch and it was so beautiful! Ashley Drew Artistry and Beauty by Autym completed hair and makeup for the whole wedding party. The bride then shared a first look with her dad at Cottonwood Creek. After their emotional first look, Courtney and Ben shared a first look as well. We then went further into the park for couple portraits in the open sagebrush.

Then it was off to get them married! Their family and friends met them at Schwabacher’s Landing where her best friend officiated their ceremony. During the ceremony, they passed the rings around for the guests to each take a moment to bless their marriage. Some siblings also shared special readings. Then, during family photos, my husband (and second shooter for some events), took photos of each family member and couple in attendance two that they could have that memento of the occasion. 

Our last stop of the night was at Mormon Row. Things were chilling down and getting dark fast, but I’m glad we didn’t skip out on this location. I pulled out the flash for the last few shots. I played with flash more the last two years in outdoor sunsets than I have in the past. I look forward to doing more of it!
