It was a tremendous honor for me to provide my nephew’s Utah Wedding photography! It’s weird to believe I’m that old, but it’s true. Jonathan and Melanie were married in the River Bridge Event Center in Spanish Fork, Utah. Then after a luncheon with family and friends, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Payson Temple. I’m so excited to share some highlights from their Spanish Fork wedding day with you! And if you haven’t seen their Fall Idaho Engagements, you can here.
Their wedding day started off with a whirlwind of activity at the wedding venue. River Bridge Event Center is located in Spanish Fork, Utah and is a beautiful venue. It has a modern farmhouse vibe with the white and black interior. My favorite parts of the venue were all of the windows letting in natural light, tall ceilings and chandeliers, and rooms for the bride and groom and their families to get ready in and relax in.
Since I’ve had a lot of experience with processionals, and most of the wedding party hadn’t, we made some adjustments during the rehearsal. I’m so glad I was there for it. The groomsmen all clumped together, walking in just a few feet behind each other. I helped them pace out the timing so that it flowed more smoothly and looked way better than a clump of people in the aisle together.
These two had the best wedding party though! They were so kind and helpful when it came to flip the room. My nephew trusted all those dudes to toss him in the air and catch him again! Melanie had best friends fly from across the country to be part of her wedding day. I know it meant a lot to them to have people who sacrificed so much to be there and celebrate with them.
The ceremony at River Bridge Event Center could be attended by their family and friends of all ages and didn’t matter their religious or non-religious beliefs. When the Bishop announced them husband and wife, Melanie did the cutest little jump and squealed. It was so fun to witness their marriage and be a part of their big day!
Afterwards, the newlyweds and several of their guests went to the Payson Temple for the sealing ceremony. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, temple weddings are called sealings. The temple sealing is an important piece of their beliefs and religion. Because the temple sealing may only be attended by adult members of the church, and cannot be photographed, they chose to have a wedding ceremony before the sealing. They wanted some photos at the temple, and then we spent the remaining daylight minutes back at the wedding venue for portraits.
These sunset wedding portraits were so beautiful with the Utah mountains behind them! The sunset lit the hills with pink, which was a beautiful addition. Melanie really wanted photos with some of the cows, so we hurried before they wandered away from us too quickly to snag a few.
Jonathan and Melanie know how to plan a party! From good food, great music, and dancing the night away – everyone was having a good time. I had no idea what the heck the “wobble” dance is, but it got the whole wedding party on the dance floor so that’s a win! Add in a sparkler exit and it was a night to remember!
