The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Shawna & Christopher had a beautiful and emotional Shadow Mountain Elopement. During the fall of 2022, they eloped on the boundary of the national forest and national park in Wyoming. For couples who want a more intimate setting than they might receive in the park, eloping in a national forest can be a great option. Because this is part of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the current guidelines allow couples to get married without applying for a special permit. This could be subject to change and varies based on your national forest, so check the rules that apply before planning your national forest elopement.
Prior to their wedding, we discussed multiple options for ceremonies. They really wanted a space that would be as private as possible and have the backdrop of the mountains. Due to our other logistics, we pulled out a map and looked at a bunch of options on the boundary line. Of course, they wanted the beautiful Teton mountains in their photos as well. They had been out to Shadow Mountain a few times before and we decided on this intimate location!
The bride and groom were so excited and emotional to be getting married, it was truly heartwarming. They secured a place in my heart as one of my favorite couples. From start to finish they were the absolute sweetest people to work with! We brought our changing tent with us so that Shawna could change into her dress at the location and they could have that first “walk down the aisle” moment before their ceremony. It was magical! They exchanged rings, shared a first dance, and naturally fell into poses together that felt comfortable and authentic for them.
After their Shadow Mountain elopement, we headed closer to the mountains for some national park destination wedding portraits. They wanted elopement photography at Mormon Row and Schwabacher’s Landing. These are great additions to ceremonies at national forest locations! We had a strange cloudy but sunny day, and the mountains played hide and seek most of it. The sun streaming through the clouds made for unique opportunities to play with light. Can you see their sheer joy just streaming from their faces too?
