The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
If you are considering adventure elopement photography, you’ve found the Grand Teton elopement photographer for you! Tessica and Dale had the most magical wedding plans over the course of two days. Their events included a first look (thank you HMU by Tanya + team for her beauty services), morning hike, sunset portraits, and then horseback riding the next day. I’m so thrilled I got to be a part of their summer wedding day and capture their celebration. It was so hard to choose just a few favorites to showcase and share.
Taggart Lake Trail is one of our favorite hikes inside the park. We’ve completed it many times as a family in the summer and once in the winter with snowshoes. I even took some snowshoeing photos with one of my wedding couples the day before their winter wedding. The trail is very family friendly and is 3-4 miles roundtrip depending on if you do the up + back or the loop trail. When you reach the lake, there are several areas along the shoreline to take beautiful pictures of the mountain peaks. There is ample shade in areas along the trail, making it a good summer hike. It’s a popular trail head for good reason!
The couple applied for a dispersed ceremony permit in GTNP and hiked in for their intimate ceremony. We didn’t stop too often on the way up, but instead took portraits along the trail after the ceremony on the way back. Because of the nature of this hike, we didn’t have complete privacy for the ceremony. But it was so cute that the tourists present cheered and congratulated them when the ceremony was over. I’m so grateful for the show of respect from their impromptu “guests”. They were married by Pastor Ray and exchanged rings under the Grand Teton.
After their hiking wedding ceremony, we took a few hours break to freshen up, eat lunch and rest before sunset portraits. We took their Jackson Hole elopement photos at Jenny Lake, Mountain View Turnout, and Schwabacher Landing. We had thick smoke from some area wildfires that caused the mountains to not show up in all locations as dramatically, but it was still a spectacular day to remember.
The next morning, the couple and I met up at Spring Creek Ranch for a private horseback riding tour! Sadly, the bride couldn’t wear the dress she had planned to wear for pictures during the ride for safety reasons. We were able to take photos before the ride with the horses and then she changed into a more casual western outfit. Another challenge was that we were not allowed to get off the horses once the ride began. This made getting photos quite a process! However, it was worth it and the guide was so helpful. Having a private ride booked is the only way to go!
