As a Wyoming wedding photographer, I capture love stories against breathtaking backdrops. Amber and Tyler’s June wedding in the Tetons was truly something special. Their celebration perfectly wove together family, faith, adventure, and the stunning Wyoming landscape they hold dear.
The couple exchanged vows at The Wedding Tree in Bridger-Teton National Forest, surrounded by family and the most magnificent natural cathedral imaginable. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Bright yellow wildflowers dotted the entire area, creating a stunning golden backdrop that complemented the towering peaks beyond.
Before the ceremony, I captured Amber’s first look with her dad. It was one of those beautifully tender moments that reminds me why I love being a Wyoming wedding photographer. The emotion was palpable, and it was made even more meaningful knowing the Tetons held such significance for their family. Amber, her father, and Tyler had actually summited The Grand Teton together for her dad’s birthday and her birthday. Talk about an incredible shared accomplishment that made this location extra special!
The ceremony itself was intimate and heartfelt, with Amber’s uncle officiating. After the couple said their vows, we took advantage of the spectacular setting. We captured plenty of family photos with The Wedding Tree and those gorgeous yellow wildflowers as our backdrop.
For couples seeking Jackson Hole wedding photography, the area offers endless stunning locations. We made the most of several iconic spots for Amber and Tyler’s portraits. Our first stop after the ceremony was Mormon Row North. Here, Amber added a fun personal touch to her look—a fringed jean jacket that perfectly captured her personality and added Western flair to her bridal style.
From there, we headed to Cathedral Group Turnout and String Lake for more portraits. The dramatic peaks and pristine waters provided incredible variety in their images. At String Lake, we even spotted a juvenile moose—thankfully at a safe distance! It was one of those magical Wyoming moments you can’t plan for.
Our final portrait location was Cascade Canyon Turnout, where we were once again greeted by vibrant yellow wildflowers. The towering peaks created a majestic backdrop, and the late afternoon light was absolutely perfect, casting a warm glow over everything.
The following day, the celebration continued with a dinner and reception at the groom’s parents’ home south of Jackson Hole. Tyler’s family had spent months preparing the space, even building the dance floor themselves. It was a labor of love that spoke volumes about how much this celebration meant to everyone involved.
The evening was filled with meaningful moments, including several special dances and a beautiful knot-tying ceremony. The couple braided three strands of rope together on a board shaped like a cross, with scriptures included. It was a powerful symbol of their faith and their commitment to weaving their lives together.
The speeches were the perfect blend of fun, emotional, and laugh-out-loud funny. But the highlight? When it came time to cut the cake, Amber surprised Tyler by playfully shoving some in his face. His shocked reaction was priceless—he grabbed onto her, they lost their balance, and went rolling down the hill together! I’ve been photographing weddings for years, and these are possibly some of the most candid, iconic, and hilarious photos I’ve ever taken. It was the perfect ending to our time together.
“We had the absolute pleasure of working with Janelle for both our ceremony and reception. She made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera, captured all of the moments that were important to us, and really understood our vision. The photos—wow. Absolutely stunning. Every image was beautifully composed, full of emotion, and somehow both timeless and fresh.”
Working with Amber and Tyler was an absolute joy. These two were so generous and kind, and their love for each other, their families, and the Wyoming landscape shone through in every moment. It’s couples like them that remind me why I’m so grateful to be a Wyoming wedding photographer.
