The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Elise & Austin had an intimate elopement at Colter Bay surrounded by their closest family. Attended by their parents, siblings, and grandparents, and officiated by his father, it was one for the memory books! Colter Bay is in the northern sections of Grand Teton National Park. Because of the driving distance from their lodging to their ceremony site, the bride opted to get dressed in her gown once they arrived. This happens more than you might think! Let me know if you would like me to bring my changing tent along for your event!
This was my first wedding elopement at Colter Bay and it was such a treat. Their fall wedding made the lighting just a tad softer, and the sun was in a favorable direction. During their ceremony, her veil got a little windblown and tears of joy were shed during the vows. The only “nice” book Austin could find was his fishing journal. It was very fitting! Her classic gown with the long train was picturesque against the lake views. They celebrated with their family, took portraits together, and then we headed off for other adventures.
Fly Fishing has been a big part of their relationship together and is something they enjoy immensely. They asked if we could take a bit of time out of their wedding day to go fishing and take a few portraits of one of their favorite things to do together! Including something that is meaningful to the both of you is also a big “YES!” from me! They got their fishing licenses and gear together. Austin surprised Elise with a brand new fishing rod and reel. If you want to include any unique Jackson Hole elopement ideas in your day, let’s discuss how to make it happen.
Our final location was meant to be Oxbow Bend. However, when we arrived the sunglare off the water was so blinding that we opted to go to the Willow Flats area first. This was my first time taking photos on this section between Oxbow Bend and Jackson Lake Lodge, but I hope it isn’t my last. It was a beautiful view of the wetlands, lake, and mountains. Then, as the sun was dipping behind the mountains, we returned to Oxbow Bend. These sunset portraits are some of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken! I love Grand Teton National Park in the fall. It’s unbeatable.
Don’t delay! Permits for ceremonies in Grand Teton National Park are limited. Contact me today to learn more about wedding and elopement photography pricing. Then, we can schedule a call to chat over your wedding vision together!
