Have you decided to have a last minute elopement or Jackson Wyoming Micro Wedding in the Tetons? Did you know that even with short notice, we can make your wedding day come together beautifully?
In the last few years, I’ve had many couples who book their elopements and weddings with only 1-2 months of advance planning. It means a lot to do in a short amount of time, but it’s actually quite doable!! Your first choice of locations might not be available for your ceremony, but there is no shortage of incredible places to have photos taken.
The day of Brittney and Ty’s wedding was the smokiest I have ever ever seen Jackson Hole. Unfortunately, fire season lasted well into October due to zero rain in September. A blaze went up in the mountains just south of the Tetons and the morning smoke was insanely thick. With the ceremony at Wedding Tree, we were also closer to the fire than other locations (still plenty far away and we were not in any evacuation zones). However, because of this the mountains were not visible at all from Wedding Tree. The smoke was so thick it was a bit hard to breathe and we all smelled like campfires!
This did not dissuade them from having their perfect and heartfelt ceremony. With Ty’s sister officiating, their ceremony was extra personal and included little snippets from their relationship. Ty’s other sister sang a song during their ceremony as well. During vows, Brittney said the wrong name! I was totally shocked until everyone laughed and they later told me the story of how they met and it all made sense. It was nothing short of memorable.
Following their wedding ceremony, we opted to go to Schwabacher Landing for the family photos. Normally, we would do all the family photos in the ceremony location but with the smoke, it just wasn’t healthy or safe to continue where we currently were. I’m so glad we followed our intuition to move, as the mountains were much more visible at this riverside location and the smoke was much more dissipated.
Morning light here does mean looking straight into the sun for some photos but the kids and adults were all troopers and we did our best to make it quick for the kids! Then we got to do my favorite part of photos – couple portraits with the newlyweds!
We wandered down the river taking portraits along the way. They tucked into a wooded nook, gazed at the mountains and into each other’s eyes. We then went to what we thought was our final location in the heart of Tetons. At Cathedral Group Turnout they shared their first dance, swaying under the mountain peaks and ran down the road to their hearts content. We had a little time left over so we hopped over to String Lake, the perfect place to end our photo time together.
It is not too late to plan your elopement in the Tetons. Reach out and let’s go over the details to see how we can make it happen!
