Alex and Danielle’s Tetons engagement photos captured their newly engaged joy against the dramatic Grand Teton backdrop. After Alex proposed earlier in their trip, they celebrated with a surprise professional session at String Lake. I wasn’t there for the proposal, but meeting them to document this chapter was joyful. They arrived in casual mountain attire that perfectly complemented the setting, proving formal wear isn’t necessary for timeless images.

Two Perfect String Lake Locations

String Lake offers incredible variety for engagement sessions. We explored two distinct areas to maximize their gallery. First, the main section near the Leigh Lake Trailhead provided open shoreline for candid moments. The rocks along the water’s edge created ideal intimate spots with lower water levels. Tree-lined areas naturally frame the iconic Teton peaks, adding depth and drama.

Next, we moved to the String Lake Trailhead section with its stunning wooden bridge spanning the water. In 2025, the guiderails on the edge of the bridge were cut off, making this location so different than before. I don’t know how long this change will last but I’m selfishly hoping it’s a permanent change! This location delivered the session’s most dramatic images, with the rustic bridge providing a stage while the Tetons and alpine lake created an unforgettable backdrop.
