Jackson Hole September weddings have become one of my absolute favorite times to photograph couples saying “I do.” There’s something magical about this transitional season in the Tetons that creates the perfect backdrop for love stories. Jackson Hole September weddings offer a unique combination of natural beauty, comfortable weather, and breathtaking lighting that’s hard to replicate any other time of year.
September strikes an ideal balance between summer’s warmth and autumn’s crispness in the valley. You’ll enjoy warm days paired with cool, comfortable evenings that are generally very temperate. The sun still radiates that summer warmth, making it pleasant for outdoor ceremonies without the sweltering heat. This comfortable climate means couples and guests can relax and enjoy the celebration without many weather-related stress.
The shorter days bring an unexpected gift: the sun’s lower position creates golden light that peaks at various locations throughout the landscape. This dreamy, colorful light (especially after the sun dips behind the Teton peaks) transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary images.
The last two weeks of September showcase stunning fall colors dotting the valley. These vibrant hues are everything you could want in a fall session. Couples can lean into the fall colors and embrace that cozy autumn vibe, or keep things more neutral with their palette. The versatility extends to attire too—brides can wear a variety of dress styles and sleeve lengths, from sleeveless gowns to long-sleeved designs.
Tourist visitation drops considerably from the summer months, giving you more intimate ceremony locations. While photo shoots and landscape photographers become more abundant during evening hours, you’ll still find plenty of peaceful spots. The opportunities to see wildlife increase dramatically—especially elk and bears in their natural habitat. Hiking remains plentiful, and it’s an excellent time for horseback riding adventures.
The trade-off? There’s a slightly higher risk of rain or sprinkles, but even misty Teton weather creates moody, romantic photographs.
