Brandon & Alysa were the perfect couple to work with! They are high school sweethearts who are now in college together and planning a wedding sometime in the future. They were so fun & adventurous and didn’t mind one little bit about getting sandy or freezing their toes in the cool sand. The sunlight bounced off the sand giving such a warm and lovely glow to the photos. Photographing couples in love is my favorite thing in the world! These two are hip, trendy, rad, and oh so photogenic. Alysa is also a photographer, and she has a lifestyle Instagram! She’s such a talented creator and curator. Halfway through the night, they changed outfits from casual to dressy and it was so fun to capture movement with Alysa’s dress. I highly recommend engaged couples plan on bringing 2-3 outfits for their session. This allows them to get a larger variety in their images.
I love the Saint Anthony Sand Dunes for photo shoots because they are unique, easy to access, and so open to light. They are just 20 minutes from Rexburg, Idaho and are often used for weekend bonfires by the college students. There is also obviously dirt biking, razoring, and other activities available out there!
I work with couples at all times of the day because timelines sometimes just don’t work out for golden hour lighting. However, these two were totally great to take lighting advice for their engagements and we photographed them at golden hour. Golden hour is the hour or so before the sun sets. This gives us plenty of great lighting, and then we can stay and capture amazing sunset shots. Because golden hour lighting is softer and more flattering, it’s my favorite time to photograph engagements and bridal portraits. It also gives deeper colors and tones to photos!
