The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Amy and Durant had the most epic fairytale wedding photos! They had originally planned to be married in May at Treehouse Point near Seattle, however due to COVID-19 restrictions, they had to reschedule their wedding. They decided to be married right away in Durant’s parents’ home. With the help of a sister-in-law, they had a small beautiful dinner set up to celebrate their union.
In August, they asked me to come to Washington to photograph their bridal party, family pictures, and couple portraits at Treehouse Point. I’m from the Pacific Northwest so of course I said “yes!!”. They rented out all of the tree houses so that they could have exclusive access to the property. The forest at Treehouse Point is unbelievable and I hope to photograph more weddings there as a Seattle wedding photographer! Between Amy’s dresses and Durant’s hair they looked like they could be characters out of a Disney film.
Amy had a different wedding dress for each location we went to. Because she found all of the dresses second hand from Adorned in Grace Bridal, she only spent a fraction of what the cost should have been. It was so unique to have a different wedding dress for the ceremony, the bridal party, family photos, and their couple portraits! Her first dress was classy with long lace sleeves, making her look elegant and romantic. Her second dress had a total Cinderella vibe with a giant ball gown skirt, including a bodice containing intricate beadwork. She topped off the Cinderella look with a gorgeous cathedral veil, resulting in stunning outdoor adventure photos. Her hair and makeup was also done by Christy K Makeup & Hair.
My personal favorite pose is when a couple kisses under the bride’s veil. I love capturing these shots when a bride has a cathedral veil because it is much easier than a traditional one. Not only are veil shots gorgeous, I feel as though I am a third-wheeler, creating a lot of laughs during my photoshoots. I’m so happy that we were able to document these magical and romantic photographs for them.
Amy and Durant were not strangers to adventure! Treehouse Point has a beautiful river at the back of the property. Amy knew she wanted some photos in the water, so they got right in! Their photos document both the elegant/classy side and the carefree side of them. I loved every single moment working with Amy and Durant!
