The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Toni and Doug were married in a small backyard wedding among their closest loved ones and it was so beautiful! Their micro wedding in the Pacific North West was nothing less than perfect. We had beautiful weather. I absolutely love southwestern Washington in the summer and early fall. I’m always so thrilled to go back to my roots and photograph destination events. Their delicious food and cake, as well as their vibrant and colorful flowers were from Trader Joe’s.
These two were surrounded by so much love. Their children stood up with them and Toni’s mother officiated the wedding ceremony. Toni’s mom created a wonderful photo book with their full ceremony verbiage in it. The photo book also included photos from their relationship. She also surprised them with a shadow box frame with heirloom wedding rings. The wedding rings were from her ancestors, and this was such a thoughtful gift.
With all of the craziness of 2020, Doug joked about zombies being a part of the wedding. Well, it happened! They surprised Doug with a zombie pin attached to his boutonniere. I surprised Toni and Doug by photoshopping the zombie pin into one of their barn photos!
As a wedding photographer I get some really unique experiences. Toni was my high school English teacher for 3 years in Washington! We were a brand new school, so she moved with our class from Freshman to Senior year. The only year I didn’t have her as a teacher was when she taught AP English (it sounded hard, okay?!). Anyways, it’s been about 13 years since I had her as a teacher! But, in October 2020, I witnessed her marriage to Doug. (And yes, I wore a mask the whole time, except for these few seconds for our photo together and I just didn’t breathe haha) And, I got to do so with my husband as my photography partner for this event. It’s just crazy how things come full circle! We reminisced about old jokes and television show references from “Lost”.
Congratulations Toni & Doug! Wishing you so much happiness!
