I was so honored when Alex inquired with me about photographing his proposal to Maria! Each of them have jobs in the healthcare industry and have been working extra hard during the pandemic. So, they took a much needed vacation, and planned to road trip and camp! Grand Teton National Park was one of the stops along their way and the perfect place for a proposal.
The day of the proposal they had some kind of crazy situations happen but they were still able to make it to their hotel and with time to get ready for a sit-down dinner. But before the dinner, Alex And Maria did a little sightseeing at my favorite location in the Tetons.
One of the trickiest parts about being a proposal photographer, is trying to be unsuspicious. Sometimes it is incredibly tricky, and other times I feel like I knock it out of the park! Being inconspicuous was tricky this time around. There’s so many beautiful spots in this location that are perfect for a proposal. So, trying to make sure that we find each other without being obvious to the unsuspecting bride to be comes with its own hurdles. To help overcome this hurdle, I always have the client send me a photo of them that day. Then, I send them a selfie of me so that we can easily recognize each other without having to talk to each other before the proposal happens!
Maria was totally surprised! I absolutely loved her reaction to Alex’s proposal. I don’t usually get to hear what is said, but it is so fun to see the looks of shock that turns into pure joy! After Alex proposed, I gave them a couple minutes to themselves to just soak it all in and then we spent the next hour taking engagement photos by the river.
Their sunset portraits with the light streaming through the peaks of the Tetons are some of my favorite proposal pictures! They also did a great job coordinating their outfits, and they were just a blast to work with. Alex warned me that he is super not photogenic and I can tell you right now, he lied! These two were so cute together and had the most natural chemistry! So grateful that I got to meet them and photograph this special moment of their life. It was the perfect evening for a proposal in Grand Teton National Park.
