In the fall of 2020, our family had our photos taken by Miss E Studios. Our families stayed in Jackson Hole together and our husbands watched our children while Lizzy and I shot a wedding together. The next day we swapped family photos! When Lizzy and I swap family photos, we each shoot on our own cameras, on our own cards. But we also shoot on each other’s cards. This allows us to hand over a copy of the raw files to each other while also still having them to edit for our own style.  I can immediately go home sort through our pictures and edit my favorites. But, then I still have to edit my own family photos. I love it though because it allows both of our families to get pictures without having to pay each other money.

Crazy Fall Weather

The weather for our family photos was absolutely ridiculous we had pretty much every kind of weather in the book. We had bright sunny photos at Wedding Tree and Mormon Row, and then we had snowy overcast weather for our photos at Jenny Lake. If you can believe it, these photos are taken only an hour apart. Such is the weather in Wyoming! 

Mother-Son Dancing Photos

Something that I really wanted to do during our photo session, was to get a picture of me and my son dancing. Not to sound morbid, but I just want to make sure we have this photo. I cry at every mother-son dance at weddings now. If you don’t know, I’m a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed when I was 29 years old. There’s a part of me that worries I won’t be around to see my son get married on his wedding day and that I won’t be there to dance with him. So I decided that I want to dance with him in our family photos!

Grand Teton National Park Family Photos

We were lucky to find some vibrant fall colors for our pictures. I’m also grateful that despite the overcast nature during part of our session the snow cleared up. We were able to get pictures with the bold colors of the mountains behind us! Hallelujah! These are some of my favorite family photos we’ve ever taken. I just want to thank Lizzy again for being a great friend and photographer. She took these beautiful photos for us and allowed me to edit them to my style! I will always cherish these beautiful images.
