After Kais and Zenobia’s proposal session at Wedding Tree, we drove to String Lake for the other half of their session. I always love a good Teton engagements session and encourage my couples to spend time in 1-2 locations. Kais and I had discussed Jenny Lake for the engagements, but we switched to String Lake. The water has been so high on all of the lakes! String Lake had a bit more shoreline to work with in early June.
I have learned that I need to pack bug spray in my handy dandy little fanny pack, so I bought some travel size to bring with me. There were definitely a lot of bugs this time of year at String Lake, but it was still so worth it! The water is still really high at String Lake as well. The water is great for kayaking and paddle boarding, but not so great when you need to have shoreline areas to be able to take photos with the mountains! Kais and Zenobia had brought a blanket with them that they thought would look really nice with their outfits. They wanted to do a few of them wrapped up in in it.
We first did some engagement photos around the lake, and then moved into the forest. While in the forest, we had some really beautiful overcast lighting that made the the lighting on their skin so creamy (read, I LOVE overcast!). This is one of my favorite forest trails to use for photos. There’s access to so many different little locations along the way that give a couple of variety in their pictures. Whether it’s Teton engagements, elopement, or a wedding, it tops my list.
It was so hot during their engagement session, so at the end, they dipped their feet into the lake to cool off. However, that Lake water is also straight from melted snow and freezing! They only lasted a few minutes in the water but that was enough to get the photos we want. They came to Jackson Hole on a vacation as a dating couple and are leaving as a newly engaged pair. I am so thrilled for them and excited for all their future holds!
