Abby and Cameron’s Island Park wedding was one to remember. One of my absolute favorite weddings ever! They planned their destination wedding while attending school in Nebraska, and had family and friends come from all over, including California, Nebraska, and Kansas.

They planned a first look since we were doing couple, family, and bridal party portraits before the ceremony. And I am so glad we did! I love first looks. There is so much anticipation, and I love that it’s a moment the couple gets to share with just the two of them. The other thing I love about wedding first looks is that it doesn’t take away from the moment the groom sees his bride walking down the aisle. There is still that anticipation and it’s sometimes even more emotional than the first look. As photographers, we have a lot more freedom capturing the first look than when the ceremony is starting. So if you’re contemplating doing a first look, do it! You have nothing to lose and only beautiful images to gain!

Abby’s bridesmaids were perfection in mismatched gowns that were long and flowy. They were made for movement! The groomsmen were all in purple dress shirts with black ties. Whey were the perfect compliment to the bride and groom. Abby’s dress was a gorgeous champagne colored confection that was fitted and flattering on top with a whimsical train.

Rain began right before the ceremony, which just meant extra good luck for the couple! The ceremony was still held outside but the after party was moved into the Summerwind Cabin! It turned out beautifully all around. Here is what Abby had to say, “Janelle photographed my wedding this past June, and I was so glad to have her! I was late in finding a photographer and she was very responsive and I was so relieved she had my date open! Even though my wedding was outdoors on a rainy day, we got lots of good shots and Janelle and her second shooter made it fun! The portraits look great and she got a lot of good candid photos”.
