Savanah and Brandon’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful. They wed in a Grand Teton National Park Elopement. Unfortunately, we were not able to see much of the Tetons due to the smoke and haze. But these two really made the best of their wedding day anyways. Things got started a little later, and so luckily we were able to make up some time in other areas and get photos at several different locations for them.

Schwabacher’s Landing Wedding Ceremony

After their getting ready photos at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse, we headed for their wedding ceremony at Schwabacher’s Landing. Because of the time of day I recommended that they have their wedding ceremony at the first little landing area. This gave us a really beautiful view of the river without having to go all the way down to the beaver ponds at the end. Following their ceremony, we took time to take family photos and couple portraits. Then we headed to Mormon Row for some additional family photos and couple portraits.

Grand Teton National Park Elopement

Our bride wanted to take photos at the Chapel of Transfiguration. This location is one of Savanah’s dad’s favorite locations in Grand Teton National Park. We took just a few photos of the chapel surrounded by the beautiful aspen trees. For this portion we just had the couple with us and were able to move really quickly between poses. Then, we headed to Taggart Lake trailhead. Late summer and early fall is so beautiful here with the bridge and aspens. My favorite part of this trail is the beautiful waterfall that is up there.

I jokingly asked them if they wanted to get on a rock in the river and she immediately said, “Yes!”. I was a little bit taken aback and had to make sure that she really meant it, and she did! This was 100,000% absolutely worth doing and I’m so glad that we were able to end their couple portrait time with these magnificent photos of them in this epic area. For not being able to see the Teton peaks on their wedding day, they sure do have some really beautiful beautiful photos to show from their Grand Teton National Park Elopement.

Old Wilson Schoolhouse Reception

After we were finished with our photos, we headed back to the Old Wilson Schoolhouse where a beautiful dinner and reception had been put together for them. Because they only had their families attending their wedding, it was a really beautiful and intimate setting. Savanah is also an only child and she got married on her dad’s birthday. To mark the extra special occasion they really wanted to make sure they went all out on this celebration. The bride and her mom brought out a piece of cake with candles on it. I was blown away by the details in her flat lay and the beautiful mementos for the table and their cake from Rexburg cakes was absolutely delicious!

When things don’t go as planned

Not everything goes to plan on a wedding day. And as much as we try to make sure that things go as perfect as they can, we set ourselves up for missed expectations if every bride or groom believes that their wedding day is going to go off without a hitch. Things happen. Weather intrudes, makeup might not be done exactly how you want it to, the cake might get squished in transportation, or the flowers might not meet your design expectations. But no matter what it is, having a good attitude like Savanah and Brandon just makes the wedding day go so much more smoothly. This is your wedding day! Don’t let those small things that might happen determine the joy level that you are going to have on your wedding day. Enjoy it. Soak it all in!
