While I was in Washington I wanted to have a lot of flexibility to do family activities. So, I only did three photo shoots, all in one day! They were all families that I grew up with. Two of those were Battle Ground Family Portraits. Okay, I know I don’t look this old, but I grew up babysitting these young adults! It is so crazy to me to see several of them now married some of them starting their families and just growing up as humans do. It was awesome to catch up with them and photograph their growing family.
I had the opportunity to photograph the Cluff family while I was in Vancouver, Washington visiting my parents. I grew up with the Cluffs being some of my church leaders, as well as having lots of opportunities to babysit their children. It’s just fun to see people from your childhood and your teenage years. Unfortunately, the two son-in-laws were out of town for their family photo session, but they still wanted to take the opportunity to document where their families at right now. They’ve got a new grandbaby! I absolutely loved the opportunity to work with them for their Battle Ground Family Portraits.
We chose to do photos at Lewisville Park which is near Battle Ground, Washington. I love Lewisville because it has tall shady trees and river access with big rocks and pebbles all along it. It makes for a very beautiful setting for family photos. This was one of my favorite places to go as a kid and teenager for birthday parties or to hang out. Even though I didn’t frequent it very often it’s a unique experience to go back to your old haunts.
Vancouver area is changing so rapidly still that there were a lot of roads with new construction and changed traffic rules that I really didn’t even recognize some of home anymore! I guess that’s one of the things about growing up! I love visiting my home town in the Pacific Northwest, and got to photograph the wedding of my high school teacher last year. If you’re planning a wedding or elopement on the west coast, send me a message!
