The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Being a Jackson Hole elopement photographer, sometimes the weather isn’t always in our favor. Being in the industry as long as I have been, I’ve been to multiple weddings with surprising endings. Oftentimes event planners have back up plans for these types of weather changes. However, rainy day weddings aren’t often celebrated, sometimes they’re dreaded! But rainy day weddings are incredibly beautiful and can be just as wonderful as sunny weddings. It’s about changing your perspective and looking at the rain as a good thing!
Throughout the planning process, when you’re checking the weather it may not be what you’d hoped for. I’ve been to multiple weddings that’s it’s rained at, and it’s always absolutely beautiful! Besides rain being good luck on your wedding day, I’m sharing a few reasons why rainy day weddings can be absolutely breathtaking.
Looking back on our wedding days, there’s always something that stood out, the rain can be your something special. It may change your plans or your idea of what your wedding day would look like, but it’ll be absolutely beautiful. Also, your guests will be talking about the weather for days to come!
Rainbows! If it rains on your wedding day, look for the rainbow that inevitably will come. I can’t think of a more romantic way to celebrate your wedding day than with a rainbow.
Bring on the rain boots, fun umbrellas and cute coats! Take fun pictures with your bridal party dancing in the rain after you say I do! The incredibly dreamy and romantic possibilities of pictures to take in the rain is endless. Wait until after the ceremony and have fun with your photographer in the rain, and change into dry clothes to dance the night away with friends and family.
Moving your outdoor wedding indoors because of the rain will allow your guests to avoid the elements, and enjoy your rainy day wedding from the comfort of the indoors! They’ll be able to stay cool and dry, not worrying about the elements and staying cozy and warm dancing the night away.
When you’re planning your wedding, I always encourage my elopement couples to come up with a backup plan in case of some surprise weather. Having that back up plan allows vendors, and even yourself to be prepared for what’s to come. It won’t catch you completely off guard and cause unnecessary stress. This allows for your day to still go with the flow and and be as wonderful as you’d hope it would be.
I’ve been so blessed to work with the most incredible couples that have had rainy day weddings and they’ve all turned out incredible. Honestly some of the most fun and wonderful weddings I’ve been to!
