Having been in the area as a Jackson Hole wedding photographer for quite some time, I’ve grown to love the winters! The incredibly snowy atmosphere in the mountains, coupled with a cozy and warm cabin is everything this time of year. Oftentimes couples can be slightly intimidated by the idea of a winter wedding, but I’m here to tell you to embrace it! Bring out your inner Elsa and let’s have a winter wedding! Thinking of planning a winter wedding in Jackson Hole? Check out this winter wedding inspiration for the Teton Bride!
Don’t be afraid to lean into the rustic vibes and outdoorsy charm found in Jackson Hole. That’s part of what makes the area so special and magical. It’s the snow, the antlers and mountain views that bring it all together. Whether you opt for more of a rustic chic wedding theme, or decide to take pictures in front of the beautiful Tetons, embrace the outdoors. Throughout the winter, thousands of people travel to the area to enjoy the beauty found in Jackson Hole – let’s celebrate its beauty during your winter wedding.
If you’re trying to decide whether it’s worth it to venture out into the snow, the answer is always a resounding yes! Just like Elsa, “the cold never bothered me anyway”. Whether you decide to get married outdoors, or just escape to the snow for a quick bridal portraits session, you won’t regret it. There’s something so breathtakingly beautiful about being in the snow in your wedding gear. The winter goddess in you totally comes out, and it’s my favorite thing ever.
If the cold isn’t your favorite, but you want pictures in the snow, consider just a short couple of shots outdoors. We’ll work quick, and I have tips for staying warm during your winter outdoor bridals! Lastly, if you’re prepared for a bit of snow, and have boots, and a coat, we’ll be able to get some beautiful pictures in no time. Just trust me and the process, and know I’ve got your back!
Throughout the wedding planning process, couples can oftentimes get overwhelmed by the amount of time and stress that goes into planning a wedding. One of my biggest tips for making any wedding your dream wedding, be you! Don’t let the pressures to include certain things in your day cloud you from doing what you want. If you want to wear a bold untraditional dress, let’s freaking do it! I’ve had brides get married in black dresses and fur coats, or red dresses and floral crowns. Take your winter wedding inspiration and run with it.
Being a winter bride, if you decide to get married outdoors, lean into it! Go all-in and wear the fun snow boots, grab a fun fur coat, scarf and let out your inner winter goddess come out.
Next, consider getting married in a cozy cabin with close friends and family, and then going outside! There’s nothing like getting together with close family indoors while it’s snowing outside. Imagine how it would feel on your wedding day. You’ll be able to stay warm during the wedding ceremony, later going outdoors for breathtaking snowy bridals. Winter wedding inspiration summed up right in a feeling, being in a warm cabin while making memories with loved ones. Doesn’t get much better than that!
After your outdoor bridal portraits, rush back inside to celebrate your next chapter in life with hot cocoa, a warm fire, and close friends and family. You’ll be able to incorporate things like a hot cocoa bar, warm blankets, and everything that makes winter weddings that much better.
Perhaps a big wedding isn’t your thing, but maybe an outdoor elopement is. Consider skipping the cabin completely, and eloping outdoors in the snow. Bring along the people you love most, and say, “I do” in the snow, surrounded by Jackson Hole’s beauty. I’ve witnessed couples getting married in a spontaneous elopement outdoors, and even a sunrise snowy elopement. Moments like that are some of the most memorable and romantic weddings I’ve been blessed to attend.
Considering an outdoor wedding, but worried about your guests? Let them know in the invitations to dress warm and prepare for a bundled up ceremony. Provide blankets and hand warmers for guests to enjoy while you say, “I do”. Later, go back inside your venue, and enjoy the warmth and love at your dinner and reception. It’s a great way to get the best of both worlds for your winter wedding day!
Nevertheless, no matter what your Jackson Hole winter wedding day looks like, it’s sure to be a beautiful event!
