As a Grand Teton National Park wedding photographer I take great pride in the beauty of the land. There is incredibly plant life, wildlife, and scenery to enjoy. I encourage clients to diligently respect their home so that we all get to enjoy this precious paradise on earth. And that is why I feel that having a leave no trace National Park wedding is probably the greatest type of wedding you could have! Follow these tips on your wedding day to embrace the Grand Tetons while respecting its beauty.
Trails are made so that we can embrace the glory of nature while not disrupting the ecosystems and environments of the native plants and animals. There are many benefits to staying the trail, like not getting lost in the middle of a National Forest. But the best reason of all is to disrupt nature as little as possible so that these National Park can continue for generations!
I love the Tetons in the Spring and early summer because of the gorgeous wild flowers! The dainty petals and delicate pastels create the perfect scene for any wedding. But in addition to adding to the beauty of the Tetons, these florals help pollinate the meadows and mountains. So let’s leave the flowers in the ground and just enjoy them from a far for your “Leave No Trace” National Park wedding!
Probably one of the coolest parts of getting married in a National Park is the wildlife. Getting to see a bear, moose or even and eagle on your wedding makes the entire day more exciting! These moments create memories that will last a life time! However, when you do see wildlife know how to handle the situation. Never approach wildlife! Often times they will not bother you if you do not bother them.
Confetti is something that is not allowed in National Parks. Even if it is biodegradable, avoid bringing this to celebrate your Grand Teton wedding day. It may be fun in the moment, but it will stay on the floor of the National Park for weeks, or even months. And has the potential to take away from another explorers experience. Having a “Leave No Trace” National Park wedding means leaving nothing behind!
There is no need for decorations of any kind when you choose to get married in a National Park! Just embrace the gorgeous scenery that nature provides. And in the Grand Tetons that is easy to do with the blue skies, towers mountain range and babbling streams. When you truly embrace the nature that surrounds you, you will make the most of your National Park wedding day!
