This weekend my husband and I had a weekend getaway with a few cousins and it was such a blast! We stayed in a rustic cabin in Island Park and spent our time chatting, playing games, and hot tubbing. I even convinced them all to let me take some photos! The weekend was such a great time away from all the kids! I loved soaking in some peace and quiet. We talked about our struggles and strengths in parenting, marriage, work, home life, religion, everything we wanted to. We’re all at different stages in our lives – one cousin has kids starting to leave the home, the other has a younger but growing family, and we are parents of just one. I love that despite all our differences in age and family life, we still get along so well and love spending time together. This time away was so rejuvenating and relaxing. Our cabin had a great hot tub which was a huge ‘selling point’ for us. The guys rolled around in the snow and then hopped in the hot tub – it was a bit insane and hilarious. Mostly, I just loved soaking in the heat! We loved the cabin we stayed in and are hoping to take our families up sometime in the summer!
Island Park has several feet of snow right now, and the pine trees are beautifully flocked. I wanted photos outside our cabin so so bad! So after some begging, I talked Ryan into photos two weekends in a row and I am so glad I did! I even talked the other couples into photos as well and will share those later! For now, here are my not planned and not perfect, but totally ‘us’ photos from the weekend. I tried jumping on Ryan’s back for a piggy back ride, but the snow was so deep it was hard to get enough leverage to hop up! Then Ryan sunk into the snow as soon as he had my extra weight on him, and then he dumped me off into the snow. It was SO cold. Those photos weren’t in focus (dang it!) but I have to share a few of the action shots anyways! Thanks babe for being my only and always willing to take photos with me.
