Private Rustic Ranch

Heidi and John were married on a private ranch in Elba, Idaho. The ranch is owned by close family friends and secluded in the mountains! Engineers in Washington state, they traveled back the week before the wedding to finalize all their details. Heidi grew up in the area and knew she wanted to come back to Idaho for her wedding. One of my previous elopement brides, Kelli, referred her to me. After emails and a phone call, we knew we would be a great fit!

Their wedding was my first wedding of 2018 and took place just days after my last chemotherapy treatment. Heidi and I found we have a lot of personal connection with cancer. After her wedding, she mailed me special handmade pillows for my surgery recovery. She is a major crafter and so talented! They were perfect and super cute!

Outdoor June Wedding

Their wedding day dawned bright and beautiful, and warm! It was the perfect June day and we were so lucky to have good weather. The ceremony took place outdoors under a partial canopy of draped fabric. It included prayers, poems, and scripture readings. Afterwards, Homemade pies were served as dessert and set up inside the ranch house. The bride and groom let loose on the dance floor, and the daddy-daughter dance was a total hit!

Bride and Groom Portraits

We waited until golden hour to do the majority of the bride and groom portraits. Golden hour looks different in different locations. Since their wedding took place in the hills and there wasn’t a lot of shrubbery or tall trees, their photos have a lighter feel to them, even during golden hour. I love how the light created a glow around them and hits the mountains behind! At the end of the night, we photographed them in their getaway car – a classic jeep! They were great to be adventurous and try out some new poses with the jeep. I am so glad they choose Idaho for their wedding!
