A quick and easy way to find out some neat things about me (or just my quirks!).
It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, I’ll jam out to musicals all day while cleaning, editing, writing, and cooking. My favorite musicals are Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It started when I would go watch my sisters perform in high school musicals and sing and dance around the house. When I was in highschool, I acted in three musicals, and after graduation I was in another. My musicals were Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, Once Upon A Mattress, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Yup. You read that right. With a large family, we knew it might be a financial burden for our siblings to come to two weddings just a few months apart, so we opted to share our wedding weekend. We did our bridal photos together on Thursday, I got married Friday, she got married Saturday, and we had a joint wedding reception.
My husband and I traveled to Thailand in 2014 to visit my sister. They were living there for work and hosted us for the week. We spent several days in Bangkok exploring the city and visiting Chatuchak market and the ancient city of Ayutthaya. We went ziplining in the forest. We then became beach bums on the shores of Ao Nang and can’t wait to go back to our favorite place, Railay Beach. I’m scared of the water but found a love of snorkeling! One of my favorite parts of our trip was feeding elephants in the park!
My husband and I met in 2010 and will celebrate eight years of marriage this year! It’s been a wild ride and in those 8 years we’ve graduated college, had a child, bought a house, had 4 cars break down, bought two ‘new to us’ cars, and overcame a cancer diagnosis.
When my son was a year old, we were part of a music video a local group put together to the song Hallelujah.
As a youth, we would pick apples in Hood River and sell them to our neighbors. I’m so amazed at the amount of hours my parents spent driving us around to pick up apple boxes from stores, and delivering apples to customers. I made $10,000 over the course of the years and was able to pay for most of my college education from our traditional apple project.
In 2016 my husband and I purchased a fixer upper mobile home. We gutted it and started making it our home. We wanted to do as much as we could on our own which meant learning some new skills. I watched Youtube videos to learn how to texture drywall! I textured our entire home with the exception of two rooms. I also sanded and painted our kitchen cabinets.
It’s sounds super weird I’m sure, but when it comes to snot, I’m a Kleenex soothing lotion kind of snob! My family is cursed with runny noses and congestion like no other so I gotta keep my nose nice and happy. You will always find me with Kleenexes on hand. I don’t think you need a photo for this haha.
I get major headaches from scented products so you’ll hardly see me using them. I get scented lotions and body washes all the time as gifts and they go straight into the ‘re-gift’ pile. Several years ago I bought three sets of Body products from Bath & Body Works and found out they all smelled like vomit when mixed with my skin ph. True story!! I have to be very careful with the soaps, lotions, and even deodorants I use.
Ok before you get too ahead of yourself, it has nothing to do with alcohol! I’m someone who loves just chilling at home and I recharge by spending time alone. But I also recharge by going out and photographing people! After a wedding though, I am mentally and physically exhausted from all the energy, chit chat, and thought that goes into it. I usually come home, take some pain killers, and crash in bed! The next day I’m a bit of a zombie and so tired, exhausted, and have what I imagine a hangover feels like. Ask any wedding professional, and they’ll probably tell you the same thing!
