The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Sandor & Paige met through his sister and spent their first date walking around Portland and talking for hours. I grew up 30 minutes north of Portland, and consider the area ‘home’ still! I was so stoked when he messaged me to plan maternity photos with a surprise proposal during it. They traveled to Jackson Hole last year for a wedding and fell in love with the area and he knew it was the area he wanted to pop the question!
We originally planned for photos to take place at Schwabacher’s Landing, but it was still closed for the season. It was kind of a crazy scramble finding a different spot for them that would be open. Luckily, I had been back to the area in March for an elopement and scouted out places then. My family also went over the night before and spent Saturday exploring the open areas and hiking! Sandor mentioned that Paige liked the idea of having water in the background so I went looking for accessible areas. I found a cute little spot off the Gros Ventre road on the way to Kelly (I’ve never been out that way!).
The night before our session, I realized I hadn’t checked with Sandor to see how he was planning to ask her, and what he needed me to do! I was worried it was too late to text or email him, because he either wouldn’t see it, or she would and the surprise would be ruined. So when we met up at the first location, Taggart Lake Trailhead, I asked him quietly “Is this the location you want to ask?”. Sandor ended up proposing at our second location instead, just waiting for the perfect moment. When we arrived at the second location by the Snake River, they noticed the hill just on the other side of the road. We decided to climb up it and on the top was a lone tree with a beautiful view. It was the perfect spot for Sandor & Paige’s engagement to happen!
