Working with Dan and Karen was so much fun. They got married just after Christmas in 2019 and there was tons of snow in Rexburg! I met Dan through his sister, Kira. Kira was my college roommate and remains my friend today. In fact, when I was diagnosed with cancer and lost all of my hair due to Chemotherapy, she buzzed her hair too. Even though I would never ask anyone to do that, it meant so much to me to have that support. I’ve taken photos for their family throughout the years and have always enjoyed their company! I was thrilled when Karen’s mom contacted me about photographing their wedding.
Before their wedding day, we met to take formal couple portraits. Winter weather can be exceptionally harsh in Rexburg, Idaho. Because of this, we planned to take half of their photos at The White Space studio that is part of The Venue in Rigby. Karen and Dan had a first look at the studio before we took their portraits together. I love this white space studio for all kinds of photo shoots, and this was my first time taking winter bridals in it!
Surrounded by family and close friends, the couple was married in the Rexburg Temple. After the ceremony, we took a few family photos outside the temple. After photos were finished, we all went back to the bride’s parents house. They had moved furniture out of the living room to make space for dinner tables. They had an intimate but elegant dinner prepared. I loved the winter decorations that were seamlessly integrated in with the rest of the wedding decor. And would you believe that the bride’s father designed the floral arrangements for the wedding?
