After 2 days at Disneyworld, we rented a car and drove down the coast about two and a half hours. Lizzy had found a really fun Airbnb for us to stay in. We checked into Peggy’s Hideaway on the Water, and got a tour of our shared space. I’m honestly sad we didn’t get to stay at Peggy’s house longer because she had a beautiful yard that went right up against the water. She also had kayaks and a personal tour boat ride, but we just didn’t have time. We did, however get to spend time taking some beautiful engagements at DuBois Park in Jupiter, Florida.
Our only night in Jupiter, we went to DuBois Park which is right on the ocean and also has little inlets. I was so glad when Melanie and Larry expressed an interest in coming up for photos! Melanie and Larry are so adorable together and just seem like such great human beings. I love their chemistry and authenticity with each other. Melanie is also just a complete natural in front of the camera! They drove up from Boca Raton to meet us. Right after I photographed Paige and Sean’s engagement session and family pictures, we met up with Melanie and Larry to capture these engagements at DuBois Park.
We ran out of light pretty quickly because they got stuck in traffic, so I practiced a little bit with my flash. I wanted to make sure that I could still capture them with the ocean waves despite losing good lighting. I didn’t have my full flash setup and only used what was available on my camera. It wasn’t an ideal lighting situation, but it was still fun to just experiment with something that I haven’t done a lot of in the past few years. As I’ve moved to doing more elopements, flash photography has not been a very necessary skill for me to have. But this year I do have some more indoor weddings so I wanted to brush up on stuff just a little bit before then.
Taking engagements at DuBois Park was such a fun new experience. I am so glad that it came highly recommended as a location. I can’t wait to take my family back to Jupiter, Florida some day and experience the beautiful beach sunsets with them. Planning a destination wedding to Florida?
