These Koreshan State Park bridals took place in the Spring! While on a trip to Fort Myers, Florida, my friend and I met up with Carly and Melinda. They are a lesbian couple who have been married for 2 years and together for 10 years! They met at a very conservative Christian school and were friends for a while before anything turned romantic for either of them. Now they have a beautiful baby girl named Ruby. Their same-sex love story is unique and beautiful.

Traditional Wedding Dresses and Veil

I love that both Carly and Melinda had traditional wedding dresses that were just so beautiful. They each bought them at a local boutique. Carly had not worn her veil on her wedding day, so it was fun to be able to include that in some of their photos at Koreshan State Park. I love a good veil photo! They are so romantic and timeless and intimate! They are some of my favorite bridal photos as well. While wearing a veil isn’t for everyone, they make dreamy photos. Some brides choose to wear their veil for only part of the day, which still allows us to get those photos, but also gives them more freedom the rest of the party!

Wedding Ceremony Lighting Situations

Light was tricky during this photoshoot as it was mid-day. But it’s always good for us to amp up our skills and practice taking photos in challenging light. Wedding ceremonies hardly ever take place during the best lighting because we have to work around wedding dinners and receptions. So it’s good to have this practice of shooting in mid-day with sun and spotty shade.  Florida is definitely hot and humid which also lent its own challenges. This was a good trial run for me to know that I would be a great winter photographer in Florida, when it’s not too hot and it’s not too humid and it’s just right 🤣.

These Koreshan State Park bridals tested our skills in many ways! But the beautiful moss covered trees added a whimsical feel to these bridal photos. I loved seeing the amazing scenery that Florida has to offer. There are so many amazing locations to choose for your destination elopement or honeymoon. Florida is definitely inching it’s way towards the top of my list for destination elopement photography.
