The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
The Oregon Coast is absolutely beautiful, and somewhere near and dear to my heart. I have shot elopements, and engagements alike, even my parent’s 45th wedding anniversary pictures there! If you decide to adventure to the Coast, make sure you explore, Short Sand Beach which is less than an hour from Cannon Beach that you have to visit too! To access Short Sand Beach, you have to walk approximately half a mile through thick forest, but totally worth it. The weather is always incredible there, and you’ll be able to relax beachside after all the craziness with the wedding!
After exploring the beautiful beaches on the Coast, take some time to have fun at the Seaside Inverted Experience, enter a world where everything changes! Have fun and look at things from a whole new perspective here. Also, check out Haystack Rock, an incredibly huge rock on the coast standing over 230 feet tall. Fun for pictures, and exploring the day away.
San Diego is always going to be one of my favorite honeymoon locations. It’s got incredible beach views, amazing food, and so much to do! You can explore Balboa Park, with free admittance and home to the San Diego zoo, and then spend the rest of the your honeymoon exploring all the different beaches in the area. Check out, Mission, Pacific, and Coronado beaches while soaking up the sun and relaxing your days away!
Sanibel Island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and incredibly unique lighthouse. It’s a lot different than any of the lighthouses that I’ve seen in the past. Most of the lighthouses on the west coast are brick and mortar style. But this lighthouse was made of metal. If you want to have the place to yourself, get to Sanibel Island Lighthouse early, to avoid crowds! Florida has these thick lush forest areas and they’re all over the beach as well. On Sanibel Island, they had lots of little walkways through the forest and as well as wide open spaces with the ocean waves. Check out an elopement I photographed here earlier this year for some inspiration for your dream honeymoon!
Fort Myers is filled with beauty between the breathtaking parks and old time estates, and the incredible beaches, it’s the perfect honeymoon location. Explore the city and eat some incredible food, and escape for an evening at the beach. What’s better than a honeymoon in the sunshine state!
Make your honeymoon a destination event in Cancun! Cancun made the list of my favorite honeymoon locations because my husband and I love traveling there. We’ve gone a few times and have had a blast every time we go! Take time to explore and take in the culture and incredible sights, we went on a few day excursions, and my husband even took surf lessons in on the beach from 360 Surf School. Or spend a day swimming with the dolphins at Isla Mujeres, interact with the dolphins on a personal level and even go for a ride on their fins! Lastly, consider La Isla Shopping Village, with over 150 indoor and outdoor shops, you’ll be able to shop for all of your souvenirs in one spot!
Cancun is filled with incredible sights, and has the most breathtaking beaches. If you’re considering Mexico for your tropical dream honeymoon, go straight to Cancun! You won’t regret it, and you’ll have a blast. Check out some of my adventures in Mexico here!
Treehouse Point is an absolute DREAM location for the couple looking to get away and just be together. With options to rent any treehouse you’d like, it’s the perfect spot for anyone looking to get away after the wedding day madness. Surrounded by lush green forests, you’ll feel straight out of a Disney movie while you’re there! Take the day slow, and explore the local farmers markets, restaurants or go for a hike! There are tons of incredible options for the adventurous couple, looking to celebrate their recent marriage.
Joshua Tree is only an hour outside of Palm Springs and a huge part of why I love this spot! Joshua Tree is an incredibly beautiful and romantic spot to whisk your lover off to for a weekend of adventure and fun. When visiting Palm Springs pack for the heat, as its known as a desert resort spot. Coachella is usually held here, making it a fun destination honeymoon location!
If you’re headed to Palm Springs, explore the Air Museum. A fun interactive experience to dive into the world of air crafts and the role they played in our history. If history isn’t your thing, consider the Palm Springs Scavenger Hunt, a Jeep Tour, or an escape room! They are endless opportunities here for your dream honeymoon!
I shouldn’t even have to put this on my list, it should be a spot already on your list! But, for all my Disney fans, Disney World and Disneyland are one of my favorite honeymoon locations. Spend your time in one of the most magical places in the world with your new spouse. If you decide Disney World is your spot, make sure you plan for a few days to enjoy all the parks Disney World has to offer. I loved Animal Kingdom, and my favorite rides you need to check out, The Safari, Everest, and Avatar. The experiences these rides offer is out of this world, so incredible, and the food is stellar!
If Disneyland is your honeymoon destination, make sure you plan to spend time in both parks. During COVID, the system to enter the park has changed drastically, visit Disney’s website to make reservations to enter the park. If you choose park hopper tickets, you’ll choose one park to start your day in, and then be able to park hop after 1 pm.
My favorites in Disneyland are Big Thunder Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean. We also loved everything about Star Wars Land! If you’re in California Adventure, check out Soarin’ Around the World, and the Incredicoaster! Our family favorite was everything Cars Land! It’s also a plus when Lightning McQueen says “Happy Birthday” to your 4 year old! Disney is truly magical!
Lastly, as a Jackson Hole wedding photographer, I have to suggest Jackson Hole as a honeymoon location. Jackson is one of my favorite places to be, with the incredible mountain ranges, and exploring the city. There are so many fun things to do. If Jackson Hole ends up as your honeymoon dream location, rent a cabin and hike around Grand Teton National Park, I have a blog post with all of my favorite hiking lakes to get you started! Jackson Hole is full of incredible activities and will be just the spot to get your marriage started off on the right foot.
