Last year was a beautiful snow year for Jackson Hole Winter Engagements! Because of the predicted seasonal outlook for the winter of 2022-2023, I opted not to take any sessions or weddings in Jackson Hole after mid-November. The snow lovers out there got the joy of their lives when our winter season came early and lasted long, with record breaking snow. In fact, the day we were supposed to take Kaylee & Gunner’s engagements, I had to reschedule. Embarrassingly, I hadn’t had my snow tires put on for the year yet and couldn’t make the drive safely. Although it WAS the 3rd week of October so I feel like I should get a break there with the tires thing. Luckily, they are local to East Idaho for the school year, so we were able to easily reschedule.
Since you’re here, you’re probably doing a little research on the best places to visit in the winter time. You might even be planning a proposal, engagement, or wedding while you’re visiting the Tetons. Let me introduce you to one of my favorite winter locations – Taggart Lake Trailhead. I highly recommend this location because it’s accessible year round and has a beautiful view of the Tetons. Even the pathways get packed down by the skiers, making the 10 minute walk up to the bridge an easy walk if you stay on the trail. I’ve snowshoed this trail in the winter and had times it was easier to walk in my snow boots than in the snowshoes. That’s how packed it can get!
Kayleen & Gunner were so fun to work with for their Jackson Hole Winter Engagements. They braved the cold and snow and made magic happen! During the winter, I try to work extra fast while still giving you a great variety of poses and pictures. Let’s be honest, it’s hard to enjoy yourself when you’re freezing. So, we do a quick mini session and still provide an amazing experience. Sometimes all we need is 30-45 minutes in a location. If we spend any longer than that, things start getting repetitive and you see the same poses over and over. Keep it fresh, keep it simple!
