The blog is a collection of wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
Ann and Michael had a Teton Hiking Elopement in Alta, WY. Each year they travel to Wyoming with their pups. It was important for them to be able to include them into their wedding day as well. While I take most of my photography in Jackson Hole, there are limited locations that allow dogs. There are gorgeous hiking trails all over the national park and forest. However, many of the trails in the forest that would allow their dogs to be with them do not always offer Teton views. So we had to come up with another plan.
I knew that dogs were allowed on the Mill Creek trail on the opposite side of the Tetons so I suggested this location for their ceremony. It was a wonderful hiking adventure with them all. The trail is about 4 – 4.5 miles to the main view point area. I did this hike a year or two earlier with my husband and friends so I knew exactly what to expect.
We took some getting ready photos at their RV parked down in Hoback, and then made the drive up to Alta. We unloaded all the dogs and gear, and started up the trail. They brought a backpacking bag to haul all of their formal clothes, rings, and other accessories needed for the ceremony. The wind picked up like crazy during their ceremony. So, afterwards, we took more photos down along the trail in the cover of the trees. When we got back to the parking lot, they did toasts and a first dance. What a wonderful celebration we had with them!
I’m always down for an adventure as long as it’s something I can feasibly accomplish with my photo gear. If you’re looking for a photographer who will hike somewhere with you for an epic elopement destination, I’d love to chat.
