I was so thrilled to photograph a wedding at the Snake River Meadow Wedding Venue. This was my first time photographing a ceremony at this local East Idaho wedding venue, and it was such a treat! Carissa and Josh hired me to take their engagement photos and we enjoyed working together. Their engagements had the prettiest fall vibes at Mormon Row. I was honored to be asked to photograph their wedding also and of course I accepted!
Their wedding ceremony took place in the morning with only closest family and friends in attendance. They each had a friends in their wedding as bridesmaids and groomsmen. I don’t often get to work with wedding parties, so it was fun to be back in a space doing that. They got ready in two houses next to each other on the main property. The bride’s hair was done by her cousins and her makeup was done by Katie Mae Beauty. They planned a first look with each other and then, adorably, with their pup! Okay, if you are including your dog in your wedding, this was such a cute idea! She got to wear a floral collar and was later their ring bearer.
The couple didn’t have an officiant, because they had actually had all the legalities done a few months earlier. They didn’t want that to take away from the importance of their wedding ceremony and celebrating with their loved ones though. Carissa and her dad had a first look before he walked her down the aisle. Then she and Josh shared little stories and vows. Finally, they exchanged rings while their cute dog chewed on the ring box!
Following their wedding ceremony, we took some family and group photos before heading into brunch. During brunch, most people shared a short toast about the couple. Then, we all dispersed for several hours before meeting back up for the reception!
Before the wedding reception formally began, extended family arrived to take a large number of photos. Then it was time for dinner and games. The meal was catered by a Mexican food truck and I was in absolute heaven with the tasty food! I love love love street tacos! They also had a soft serve ice cream machine with a toppings bar which was the perfect addition to the party. As part of the festivities, they had several game areas set up. Guests played giant Jenga, Connect 4, Farkle, Cornhole, and more. The kids loved the S’mores bar too!
The end of the night was a PARTY. The families and friends joined together multiple tables for a game of CUPS. What is Cups? Well, everyone grabbed a cup and put in a shot or two worth of their drink of choice, and then the fun began. Teams lined up and starting from one end, people start drinking down the line to see which line can finish fastest! The group played a few rounds of that before it was time for us to sneak the bride and groom off for sunset portraits.
September has beautiful fall colors and pretty light for sunset portraits. We already planned to take additional wedding portraits at a later date in the Tetons when the fall foliage would be at it’s best. Of course we wanted to take time on their wedding day for some as well! The Snake River Meadow wedding venue sits along a canal/ river and has a pond as well. With it’s view of the hills behind the venue, it was perfection.
