The blog is a collection of destination wedding and elopement highlights sharing your beautiful stories. It also includes wedding planning tips and inspiration.
In August, Jess & Austin came to preview their wedding venue and have Diamond Cross Ranch Engagements taken! Before their meeting time at the ranch wedding venue, we met up at Jenny Lake as well Cascade Canyon for some amazing mountain views. Then, after their portraits at the ranch, they did a final outfit change and got some playful photos in front of the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Come along and see the variety you get in an extended engagement session!
When we started planning this extended summer engagement session, I was excited to hear how much diversity they wanted in their locations. Each place they chose gave them a different backdrop. This Jenny Lake shoreline offers a wide open view of Teewinot and the beautiful water. This location is best in the late summer and fall when the waterline has receded a bit.
Having two outfits is always a good idea when doing multiple locations. For their Jenny Lake engagement session, Jess wore a textured cream dress with knee high boots and Austin wore a light brown shirt with blue jeans and boots. Choosing what to wear for your engagement session is key to getting the vibe of photos you want! For ideas on what to wear check out this recent blog post.
If you’re looking for a location that feels like it should be off the beaten path but is still easy to access, Cascade Canyon Turnout might be the place for you. This location offers exemplary views of the mountain peaks with a sagebrush and tree line foreground. The openness of the area gives you a lot of flexibility for poses!
Our last major stop on the itinerary was their wedding venue! They plan to tie the knot at the ranch later in 2026, but having a chance to do a walk through of the venue was key to helping plan all their details. For the couple’s Diamond Cross Ranch Summer Engagements, we were able to have horses as part of it!
There was smoke and crazy clouds lingering, so unfortunately the mountains weren’t visible. However, something that I love about Diamond Cross Ranch Summer Engagements is that they are dreamy no matter the views. Even though we couldn’t see the Tetons from the venue that day, it’s surrounded by other hills and trees in other directions. The pond is perfect for couples wanting water and mountains in their photos as well. It creates a fun dynamic to play with during photos!
Jess and Austin also opted for an outfit change for their ranch photos and it was the perfect western mix. She wore a patterned green dress with boots and he wore a long sleeve cream sweater with jeans and boots.
Last but not least was pictures outside the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar with it’s neon sign. This was another outfit change for Jess into the flirtiest boho cowgirl babe outfit. Ruffled hems and spotted cowhide heels finished the look for her outfit. We even snapped the local carriage rides going past!
