I love photographing weddings and couples, but my other love to photograph is fashion and portraits. While in Portland, I connected with one of my best friend’s sister to model for me. I’ve been wanting to do more photos in the Pacific Northwest each time I visit, so it was kind of a dream come true to photograph these in the Columbia River Gorge. These spring fashion portraits at Horsetail Falls in the Columbia River Gorge are rich in color! They have the perfect blend of highlights and shadows, and are just jaw dropping stunning!

2017 Forest Fire

In 2017, a ravaging fire devastated much of the national forest in the gorge and it was so hard seeing the results of that fire. The area we were in didn’t even have the worst of it and it was still so sad. There are tons of trees that have been burned, uprooted, and the loss of the trees have caused landslides. Most of the hiking spots are closed, but they’ve been working to get trails opened up again. I was so glad to see the Columbia River Gorge and remember so many amazing hikes I took with my family!

Horsetail Falls

Our original plan was to take photos at Multnomah Falls which is an iconic Oregon visitor site. However, March 23 dawned beautiful and had amazing weather so the parking lot was absolutely packed! We had to wait through 25 minutes of traffic to go 1/4 mile on the historic highway, so we decided to head to Horsetail Falls instead. I’m so glad we did! It’s an amazing waterfalls that you can get right up to the edge of the water and has beautiful moss covered walls and steps. The falls was literally the perfect backdrop for this fashion shoot with Hannah.
