Let me let you in on a little secret—when it comes to timeless couple poses, the best poses aren’t really poses at all. They’re moments. Movements. Little sparks of connection between the two of you that I help bring out.
Whether we’re hiking into a stunning overlook in the Tetons or keeping things low-key in a cozy meadow, these go-to poses help us create photos that feel like you. Natural, timeless, and real. So if you’re wondering, “What should we even do with our hands?”—don’t worry. I’ve got you.
Here are 14 poses I use all the time that leads to beautiful photos.
The easiest way to shake the nerves: just walk. Hold hands, swing your arms, look at each other or laugh about how awkward you feel—those little in-between moments are golden.
It’s soft. It’s intimate. It always photographs beautifully. I’ll have one of you lean in for a forehead kiss while the other gently closes their eyes. It’s simple and romantic and one of my favorite timeless couple poses.
One of you wraps arms around the other from behind—standing or sitting. It creates closeness without feeling stiff. Bonus: it usually leads to some great laughs or sweet nose kisses.
If it feels right, I might suggest a lift—just for a few seconds. Whether it’s a full twirl or a quick scoop, it always gets big smiles and candid movement.
This one’s all about connection. You’ll stand super close, noses just about to touch or gently touching, and maybe close your eyes or smile. It’s quiet, but powerful.
We’ll find a spot—blanket, log, rock, grass—and I’ll have you sit close, leaning into each other. It’s cozy and grounded, perfect for slower, more thoughtful shots.
Instead of facing me or each other, I’ll have you both look out toward the view. It gives a sense of peace, of dreaming together. It’s great for wide scenic shots.
Sometimes I zoom in on the way you hold hands, or how your fingers interlace. These close-up shots are beautifully detailed and intimate, especially in black and white.
No music needed—just hold each other and sway. I’ll guide your hands if needed, but mostly I just want you moving and feeling close. It’s sweet and simple.
Similar to the nose touch, but even more gentle. I’ll have you rest your foreheads together and just take a breath. There’s something grounding about it.
I’ll prompt one of you to whisper in the other’s ear—something romantic or something goofy. The reactions? Pure gold. Genuine, sweet, and personal.
One of you stands in front, the other behind, looking over their partner’s shoulder. It’s a classic, slightly more editorial feel, but still full of connection.
If we’re near a wall, fence, or even a rock, I might have one of you lean while the other reaches for them. It creates beautiful tension and a cinematic feel.
Some of my favorite shots happen while you’re fixing a dress, brushing hair away, or laughing at something totally unposed. I’ll always be shooting during these moments—they’re full of life.
You don’t have to memorize these or come into your session with a Pinterest board of poses (but you’re totally welcome to share them with me if you do!). I’ve done this hundreds of times, and I’ll guide you every step of the way. My goal? To make you feel seen, comfortable, and connected—because when you feel like you, the photos follow.
So when we’re out there—whether it’s in the mountains or down a dirt path—just focus on each other. I’ll handle the rest.
If you ever feel awkward or unsure, just say so. I’ve got prompts and poses to get you right back into your rhythm. We’re not aiming for perfection. We’re going for honest, lasting moments you’ll want to frame and pass down someday.
